Job Summary
As a professional truck driver with Smithfield Foods, you will operate late‑model Freightliner tractors pulling 53’ reefer trailers and be dispatched to our plants, company distribution centers, and customer distribution centers. Your role requires safe, efficient, and timely delivery of freight over long distances.
Responsibilities- Transport and deliver freight over the road over long distances in a safe, efficient, timely and legal manner.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain records required under state and federal laws and regulations.
- Ensure that all operations are in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Represent the company and the trucking industry in a professional manner.
- At least 21 years of age.
- 1‑year CDL Class A driving experience with tractor‑trailer or reefer required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to work well with others in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Respectful, approachable and team‑oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
- Some positions may require repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs, single lifting of heavy objects up to 60 lbs, or the use of mechanical assistance.
- Competitive pay up to $100,000+ annually.
- Paid detention rate.
- Driver schedule options: 6 and 1, 6 and 2, 5 and 2 (Tues‑Sat), (Sun‑Thurs), (Sat‑Wed). Anticipated home time 2 days per week.
