SummaryThe CAD Technician creates, updates, and maintains accurate production and prototype wiring harness drawings, label files, bills of material, and related engineering documentation for Marine Components’ Harness Division. Working under the direction of engineering, this role converts design inputs into controlled manufacturing documents, incorporates approved changes, checks work for accuracy, and supports prototype and production teams with drawing and documentation needs.
The CAD Technician collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and product development personnel to ensure harness documentation is complete, consistent, manufacturable, and released on time.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by following established safe work practices and required procedures.
- Create, revise, and maintain 2D CAD drawings and related manufacturing documentation for production and prototype wiring harness assemblies.
- Translate engineering sketches, marked‑up drawings, specifications, bills of material, and other design inputs into clear, accurate, and manufacturable harness documentation.
- Maintain drawing files, engineering databases, label files, part records, and document revisions in accordance with company naming, release, and change‑control standards.
- Process approved engineering change requests by updating affected drawings, bills of material, labels, databases, and supporting manufacturing information.
- Perform detailed self‑checks to verify dimensions, wire data, connector information, labels, notes, revision levels, and document completeness before review and release.
- Coordinate with engineers and product development teams across MBI brands to clarify design requirements and incorporate approved updates.
- Support prototype builds and production launches by preparing documentation, responding to drawing questions, and updating records as directed by engineering.
- Develop practical knowledge of harness assembly and wire‑processing methods, including cutting, stripping, crimping, splicing, labeling, routing, and electrical testing.
- Assist engineering, manufacturing, and quality personnel in researching and resolving drawing, documentation, and configuration discrepancies.
- Participate in design reviews and provide drafting input related to drawing clarity, standardization, and manufacturability.
- Prepare and update work instructions, visual aids, standard documentation, and other technical records as assigned.
- Organize assigned work, communicate status and constraints, and complete drawing and documentation tasks within established priorities and deadlines.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable drafting practices, software, engineering standards, and company procedures through training and professional development.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education and/or Experience- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate’s degree in electrical or industrial field preferred. - Previous experience with CAD or technical drawings is helpful; candidates with transferable skills and the ability to learn the required software and processes are encouraged to apply.
