of Work

The primary purpose of this position is to recruit, hire, and retain the most qualified Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Nursing Assistants at Caswell Developmental Center.

This position is responsible for coordinating, developing, and implementing an effective recruitment program, which includes contractual staff. In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining databases pertinent to this role as well as statistical reporting relating to nursing staff.

  • Requires general knowledge of local, state, and federal healthcare regulations, accrediting standards, and state government HR interview policies and procedures.

  • Shows leadership by guiding employees with professionalism and care, advising on performance and conduct, and aligning teams with both short-term goals and long-term objectives for Nursing Services.
  • Communicates effectively through public speaking and builds collaborative relationships with management, healthcare staff, patients, families, and external partners.
  • Applies foundational nursing knowledge, supports staff development and competency assessment, addresses quality improvement needs, analyzes data, and collaborates on training and education initiatives.

This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126)

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Work Hours:

8 AM - 5 PM, (Flexibility is required based on the overall needs of the facility)

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate. An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

  • The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
  • The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
