Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor
The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's food safety and quality assurance programs, including implementing and maintaining HACCP plans, conducting audits, training staff on food safety protocols, investigating customer complaints related to quality, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards by actively monitoring FSQA data and taking corrective actions when necessary. The FSQA supervisor will be responsible, under the direction and guidance of the Head of Technical Services, for assisting and guiding processing facility and DC staff toward operational excellence by conducting ongoing monitoring of data, identifying and analyzing deficiencies, and assisting with completion of corrective actions.
The FSQA Supervisor must be able to plan and prioritize work effectively and independently. This position requires proficiency in communication, training, strategic thinking, and continuous improvement techniques. Applicants for this job must be great communicators who work well as part of a team with a high level of initiative. The supervisor serves as the eye of the customer and ensures that the product is wholesome and meets all product specifications.
Tasks and Responsibilities Food Safety Compliance
- Enforcing operational food safety and quality assurance standards.
- Reviewing and updating quality documentation and procedures.
- Reviewing product specifications and technical data sheets.
- Inbound quality verification (cold chain, packaging integrity, labeling, specification compliance).
- Developing and implementing quality control processes.
- Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to address quality concerns.
- Ensuring performance and quality conform to established standards.
- Inspecting, testing, and measuring new/current products.
- Provide quality data to support decision‑making by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
- Ensuring the integrity of the data, maintaining accurate and compliant records.
- Excel skills (data analysis, building charts and graphs, sorting and filtering data, utilizing pivot tables).
- Preparing QA/QC reports.
- Inventory management (products on hold due to FSQA matter).
- Executing and continuously improving the food safety training for processing facility and DC staff.
- Educating processing plant and DC staff on proper handling, sanitation practices, and quality standards.
- Driving superior performance through training and education based on ongoing monitoring quality data.
- Canada / Mexico imports and exports.
- Bachelor’s degree:
Food Science, Animal Science, Meat Science, Microbiology, Business or related field. - HACCP certification.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in the quality assurance / control area.
- Excellent analytical skills and problem‑solving abilities.
- Previous experience in FSQA, warehouse, retail or food industry.
- Experience in leading groups of QA employees, including setting team and individual objectives, managing performance and building a team approach to problem solving.
- Proficient in MS Office: using formulas, creating charts and graphs, sorting and filtering data, and utilizing pivot tables.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Able to handle conflict.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory standards (FDA, USDA).
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, including weekends.

- Office and plant setting: the plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non‑weather related), extreme cold (non‑weather related), and working near moving mechanical parts.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
