Position Overview

Camp Mah-Kee-Nac is seeking a compassionate and organized Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our health team for the summer season. This residential position is ideal for school nurses, travel nurses between assignments, or experienced nurses looking for a meaningful, community-based role in a structured and supportive environment.

The Camp Nurse oversees the daily operations of the camp health center and provides routine and urgent care to campers and staff. The setting is primarily low-acuity and focused on first aid, medication administration, minor illness management, and clear communication with families when appropriate.

This role requires strong organization, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a residential camp community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer daily medications and maintain accurate documentation
  • Assess and treat minor injuries and common childhood illnesses
  • Provide first aid and emergency response as needed
  • Maintain health records in compliance with state regulations and ACA standards
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding relevant health concerns
  • Support overall camper wellness and safety
Qualifications
  • Active RN or LPN license (Massachusetts or eligible for reciprocity)
  • Experience in pediatrics, school nursing, urgent care, or family practice preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to live and work in a residential camp setting
