We’re seeking a Project Architect who is technically strong, detail-oriented, and passionate about translating design vision into buildable, code-compliant architecture. About this Position:We are currently seeking a Project Architect to join our team. The Project Architect will be responsible for leading architectural projects from proposal handoff through project completion. This role requires deep technical knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with clients, consultants, and our internal construction team.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead development of construction documents with a focus on technical accuracy and constructability
- Ensure code, zoning, and life-safety compliance for all project types
- Coordinate directly with structural, MEP, civil/survey, HERS rater, and other project consultants
- Interface with clients, contractors, and permitting officials to resolve technical issues and manage approvals
- Support project budgets, schedules, and consultant deliverables
- Guide junior staff in detailing, documentation standards, and quality control
- Participate in design-build reviews with the construction team to refine detailing, sequencing, and product selections
- Incorporate sustainable and high-performance design strategies into technical documentation
- Standardize drawing and documentation practices across project types, helping refine and implement firm-wide Revit standards, template sheets, and detail libraries
- Develop and maintain Emerald’s code resource library to support feasibility and design efforts
- Participate in design reviews and internal peer checks to ensure drawing coordination between architectural, interiors, and construction documentation
- Redline internal drawing sets for code compliance, constructability, and alignment with client goals to ensure design intent and technical accuracy are maintained throughout documentation
This is an in-office position located in Leominster, MA, with site visits required across New England. In addition to project management responsibilities, this role includes opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the firm’s business growth by researching new development prospects, supporting business development strategies, and helping to position the firm for continued expansion.
Skills and Qualifications for Consideration:- Degree in Architecture is required.
- Professional registration or progress toward licensure is required.
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience post-degree, in an architecture firm, is required, with experience leading projects through Construction Documents and Construction Administration phases.
- Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Suite is required.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, Adobe Suite, and Asana is preferred.
- Experience in design-build, modular, and multifamily construction is preferred.
- Comfortable coordinating and communicating project information with consultants, vendors, builders, and clients.
