The English Language Development (ELD) Teacher is responsible for instructing English Language Learners (ELs) in reading, speaking, listening, and writing to help them achieve grade‑level proficiency across all subject areas. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of English grammar and structure and proven methodologies for teaching English to non‑native speakers. They should be knowledgeable about the WIDA English Language Development standards and ACCESS testing to support student growth.

• A bachelor’s degree is required
• Valid Massachusetts teacher certification in English as a Second Language
• SEI Endorsement
• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply

• Teach and implement the WIDA English Language Proficiency Standards using approved language instruction methods
• Develop clear and comprehensive lesson plans with clear objectives
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques tailored to the instructional needs and capabilities of students
• Co‑teach in general education classrooms when needed to support integrated learning
• Work closely with classroom teachers to scaffold and support students’ access to grade‑level content
• Administer the ACCESS English language proficiency test
• Assess, monitor progress, and keep records to support student development
• Monitor student progress and develop plans to support students
• Foster a safe inclusive classroom conducive to learning and aligned to Standards I & II on the teacher evaluation rubric

Salary commensurate with experience, $53,968 to $110,109 per year.
