English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher

The Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) teacher is responsible for providing high-quality, standards-aligned English Language Arts instruction that promotes reading, citing of text evidence, critical thinking, problem-solving, and student engagement. The teacher creates a safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment aligned with Massachusetts State Standards that supports the diverse learning needs of all students while fostering positive relationships and high expectations.

The Middle School ELA Teacher collaborates with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure all students have equitable access to grade-level content and opportunities for academic growth.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required
• Valid Massachusetts 5-8 teacher license in English
• Experience supporting students through student-centered lessons, with a focus on reading
• Strong knowledge of the MA state standards and the effective teaching and learning practices that promote success for all learners, including the ability to:
• Implement tasks that promote reasoning and problem-solving
• Pose purposeful questions
• Support productive struggle in learning
• Elicit and use evidence of student thinking
• Use data to inform instruction and intervention
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, support staff, and ELA content specialists
• Experience working with special education students and English Language Learners
