LONG-TERM SUBSTITUTE - SPECIAL EDUCATION COORDINATOR
Position Summary:
Leominster Public Schools is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative Special Education Coordinatoras a long-term substitute to support our early childhood special education programs during a temporary leave. This position ensures compliance with IDEA and Massachusetts special education regulations while supporting high-quality services for children ages 3–5. The leave would start at the beginning of the school year through at least the end of October.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate early childhood special education services in accordance with IDEA, MA DESE regulations, and district procedures
- Oversee development, implementation, and monitoring of IEPs for children ages 3–5
- Chair and facilitate Team meetings, including initial evaluations
- Collaborate with early childhood educators, special educators, related service providers, administrators, and families
- Ensure timely completion of special education documentation, compliance timelines, and reporting
- Support staff with instructional planning, service delivery, and problem-solving related to young learners
- Serve as a liaison between the school, district, community providers, and families
Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts licensure in Special Education Administration required
- Experience in early childhood special education and Team Chair/coordination preferred
- Strong knowledge of Massachusetts special education regulations and timelines
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Compensation:
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and aligned with district policies for long-term substitute positions.
Hours:
- Full-time, onsite preferred, but will consider flexible hours and/or virtual
