Position Title:Extended Absence Special Education Tutor (Stipend Position)
Location:TBD on a case-by-case basis (In-home, community settings like public libraries, or virtual as designated)
Compensation:District Hourly Stipend Rate ($50/hr for student facing time, $40/hr for preparation work)
Schedule:Flexible / As-Needed (typically 5-10 hours per week per assigned student for the length of the absence)
Position Overview Leominster Public Schools is seeking dedicated certified Special Education Teachers and service providers to provide targeted instruction and IEP-mandated services to students who are unable to attend school in person due to extended medical, health, or behavioral absences.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver instruction tailored to each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) and general education curriculum.
- Collaborate directly with general education teachers, special education liaisons, and service providers to obtain learning materials and adapt assignments.
- Implement accommodations, modifications, and specialized instructional strategies to meet unique learning needs.
- Document student attendance, instructional hours, and academic progress through weekly log.
- Maintain regular, professional communication with families, guardians, and school staff to support smooth re-entry into the classroom environment.
- Certification: DESE certification in Special Education or required license in related service field.
- Experience: Demonstrated success working with students receiving special education services; familiarity with homebound or alternative instruction models preferred.
- Skills: Excellent communication, flexibility, organization, and ability to work independently.
