Virtual Learning & Credit Recovery Teacher (Grades 9–12)

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized, student-centered educator to support students enrolled in a virtual high school program and a high school credit recovery program. This position is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to success through personalized instruction, data-informed decision making, and proactive intervention.

The successful candidate will primarily provide support in an online learning environment by monitoring student progress, communicating regularly with students and families, implementing targeted interventions, and collaborating with school staff to ensure every student has equitable opportunities to achieve academic success.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current Massachusetts teaching license for Grades 9–12 in one of the following core academic areas:
    • English Language Arts
    • Mathematics
    • Science
    • History/Social Studies
  • Strong technology skills and ability to effectively utilize online learning platforms
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Essential Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Monitor student progress in online courses and maintain regular communication with students regarding academic performance.
  • Develop and implement tiered academic interventions for students experiencing learning challenges or falling behind.
  • Provide individualized academic support, coaching, and encouragement to promote student engagement and course completion.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify trends, prioritize supports, and evaluate intervention effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress, interventions, communications, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, special education staff, and families to support student success.
  • Ensure students have equitable access to instructional materials, technology, and appropriate academic supports.
  • Assist students in developing effective study habits, organizational skills, self-advocacy, and time-management strategies.
  • Conduct regular outreach to students and families through phone calls, email, virtual meetings, and other communication methods.
  • Participate in student support meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
  • Support implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs), Section 504 plans, and accommodations as appropriate.
  • Identify and address barriers to student participation and completion, connecting students with additional school or community resources when appropriate.
  • Utilize data to inform instructional decisions and continuously improve student outcomes.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district, state, and federal regulations regarding student records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with virtual, blended, or alternative education settings.
  • Experience supporting students who are academically at risk.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and online instructional platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience using student data systems and progress-monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of MTSS, Response to Intervention (RTI), and evidence-based intervention strategies.

Salary commensurate with related experience.
