Job Title:

Shipping Supervisor 2 nd Shift

Department:

Functions

Oversee entire shipping operation, including truck loads, LTL, interplant.

Dock
  • Facilitate signing in of live load drivers/door assignments.
  • Facilitate moving of preloads in & out of docks.
  • Hand out load assignments for each day.
  • Ensure loaders follow special loading instructions.
  • Flex EE’s when necessary to ensure time sensitive orders make transit.
  • Flex EE’s into teams for high volume hand‑loads/loads.
  • Ensure overall pace/efficiency is appropriate. Push pace/flex EE’s to finish loads and/or avoid detention.
  • Ensure daily goals are met in terms of volume loaded.
  • Ensure maximum densities are executed & overflow is avoided when possible.
  • Work with factory to expedite freight for FTL’s, Consolidated Loads, etc.
Quality / SOP’s
  • All product consolidated or hand‑loaded meets standards.
  • SOP’s are followed:
    • Paperwork is correct.
    • Multi‑stops are separated by cardboard walls.
    • Mixed skids are labeled as "mixed".
    • Picture taking process is followed.
Pass Down / Notes
  • Daily pass down is executed between shifts.
  • Load board/schedule is updated & contains correct information.
  • Notes are entered on itinerary for FTL’s/consolidated loads:
    • Overflow.
    • Back orders.
    • Missing skids/boxes.
    • Mixed freight.
    • Stacked skids.
    • High volume hand‑load.
    • Load bars.
Safety
  • All safety rules are followed:
    • General fork‑lift operating.
    • Seatbelts.
    • Safety glasses.
    • Dock & aisles clean & free of obstructions.
Other Responsibilities
  • Before & After’s.
  • Implementing lean practices.
  • Implementing strategies to improve loading/consolidating efficiency.
Monitor Email
  • Handle requests from CSR’s and/or PM’s.
