Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Precision Mechanic with a machinist background and a passion for mechanical assembly. In this role, you will be responsible for the precise assembly of large and small machine sub-assemblies, requiring a sharp eye for fitment and the ability to read and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles. This is a hands‑on role for someone who takes pride in tight tolerances and quality craftsmanship.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret mechanical assembly blueprints and engineering drawings to plan and execute machine assembly sequences.
  • Handle precision fitments on both large and small machine sub-assemblies, ensuring all components meet specified tolerances.
  • Identify and clearly communicate fitment issues using GD&T principles with engineering and management teams.
  • Perform in‑house machining operations (including milling and lathe work) to modify parts as required during the assembly process.
  • Troubleshoot and functionally test new assemblies to verify proper operation before delivery.
  • Safely rig, move, and position large machinery and components using appropriate lifting equipment.
  • Apply hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or electrical knowledge to support full machine assembly and testing.
  • Contribute to a collaborative shop environment by sharing technical knowledge and upholding high workmanship standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with shop safety protocols.
Requirements
  • 3–5 years of experience in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Hands‑on experience operating manual mills and lathes.
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T and the ability to identify and communicate fitment problems.
  • Experience with complex mechanical sub‑assemblies and an understanding of how precision components interact.
  • Hydraulic, pneumatic, or electrical experience is a strong plus.
  • Rigging experience is a valued asset.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and physical.
  • Competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience.
