UMass Memorial Medical Group is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our growing Hospital Medicine team. The role includes working independently overnight as part of a collaborative Hospital Medicine team, managing admissions, cross‑coverage, rapid responses, and acute patient care needs while benefiting from strong physician, intensivist, and specialty support.
Key Highlights- Join an established Hospital Medicine program staffed by 15 physicians
- 7 on / 7 off nocturnist block schedule (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Full-time providers work approximately 15 shifts per month
- Closed ICU staffed by dedicated Intensivist group
- Collaborative, supportive team environment with strong clinical and operational support
- Epic EMR and integrated clinical systems
- Evaluate, admit, and manage patients presenting from the Emergency Department
- Develop diagnoses and treatment plans based on clinical evaluation
- Manage cross‑cover responsibilities and collaborate on ICU transfer decisions when clinically indicated
- Coordinate and communicate independently with consulting services across specialties
- Participate in daily inpatient rounds and document progress notes
- Respond to rapid response events and code situations
- Provide cross‑coverage support for patients across the Health Alliance and Clinton campuses, including evaluation and management of acute clinical deterioration. Responsibilities include assessing and responding to conditions such as stroke, myocardial infarction, gastrointestinal bleeding, respiratory failure, falls, behavioral escalations, diabetic keto acidosis, hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state, and CHF/COPD exacerbations
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
- Current Massachusetts licensure or eligibility for licensure, with national certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA, as applicable)
- Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration are required
- At least 2 years of inpatient Hospital Medicine experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant; or
- At least 3 years of advanced practice experience in an ICU, Emergency Medicine, or step‑down setting
