Role Overview

The Department Supervisor is a salaried leadership role responsible for the overall performance, operations, and people management of an assigned distribution center function during the 2nd Shift. This leader owns day‑to‑day execution, ensuring accuracy, productivity, and a safe, positive work environment while driving results through hands‑on coaching, clear communication, and operational discipline.

Responsibilities
  • Be a TPS brand ambassador
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Leads and associates to drive performance, engagement, and accountability
  • Manage all aspects of employee performance, including coaching, corrective action, and development planning
  • Train and onboard new associates, ensuring role clarity, capability, and adherence to safety expectations
  • Establish clear expectations and hold associates accountable to productivity, quality, and safety standards
  • Address workplace conflict directly and professionally, partnering with HR on escalated or non‑negotiable matters
  • Own daily department operations including workflow planning, prioritization, and execution
  • Delegate work effectively to balance workload, meet operational goals, and support team development
  • Monitor and manage departmental performance metrics, taking proactive action to address gaps and drive improvement
  • Adjust labor, workflow, and priorities in real time to meet changing business demands
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and operational standards
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and enforce all safety requirements
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Serve as the primary communication bridge between associates and department leadership
  • Facilitate daily huddles to reinforce priorities, expectations, safety, and performance goals
  • Support building operations, including opening/closing, incident response, and asset protection responsibilities

Job Requirements
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in distribution, warehouse, or similar environment
  • Experience managing employee performance, including coaching and corrective action
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
  • Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and warehouse management systems (WMS preferred)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods up to 6+ hours, and operate in a warehouse environment
  • Primarily scheduled for 2nd Shift (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM); flexibility to work additional hours, weekends, or alternate schedules may be required based on business needs
  • Work onsite at the Distribution Center, located in Leominster, MA
