APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

NATURE OF WORK:
This is a temporary professional position to meet the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students participating in school-based mentoring programs, to include in-person, hybrid, and virtual learning environments. The Mentoring Program's goal is to provide identified students with additional targeted intervention and increased support, ultimately reducing suspensions and increasing connections to the school community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Works collaboratively with mentoring program staff
* Supports students in the areas of conflict resolution, managing emotional responses, character building, attendance, peer mediation, and other areas that would increase the connection to school
* Supports students' future goals through transition and/or job interest discussions
* Facilitates the re-entry plan after any suspension and/or in-school intervention days
* Maintains communication with administration, students, and parents as appropriate
* Monitors and evaluates student progress
* Maintains confidentiality of student records and personal information
* Collects and maintains student data to include attendance
* Completes required reports
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required (Certified/Licensed Staff):
* Bachelor's degree
* Maryland State Department of Education Certification/Licensure
Required (Non-Certified/Licensed Staff):
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Forty-eight (48) semester college credits or successful completion Paraprofessional Assessment (Para Pro)
Preferred:
* Three (3) years of experience working with students in a school setting such as teaching or para educator experience
* Working knowledge of best practices in mentoring and experience mentoring students
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a temporary/hourly position for the course of the school year, not to exceed September 30 of each fiscal year. There is no guarantee of continuation in this position from one fiscal year to the next.
SALARY GRADE RANGE:
* Certified/Licensed Staff - $40/hour
* Non-Certified/Licensed Staff - pay rate based on individual's hourly rate
