Position Summary
St. Mary's County Public Schools is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Non-Public Tutor to provide targeted small group instruction and academic intervention in reading and mathematics to identified Title I students in pre-kindergarten through grade 5 attending non-public schools. This is a temporary, hourly position designed to support equitable access to high-quality educational support services.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide individual and small group instruction in reading and/or mathematics to identified Title I students in grades Pre-K-5.
Collaborate with non-public school teachers to develop personalized remediation plans for students.
Design and implement engaging and developmentally appropriate instructional activities.
Monitor, assess, and document student progress; maintain accurate and timely student records.
Submit required Title I documentation and progress reports in accordance with program guidelines.
Maintain regular communication with parents, Title I program staff, and non-public school personnel.
Serve as a liaison between non-public school representatives and the SMCPS Director of Supplemental School Programs.
Attend required workshops, training sessions, and staff meetings related to Title I services.
Assist with the procurement of Title I instructional materials by completing purchase order requisitions.
Ensure compliance with all Title I regulations and reporting requirements.
Deliver small group academic interventions.
Maintain and submit accurate documentation for Title I compliance.
Communicate effectively with families, colleagues, and school administrators.
Hold a valid Maryland professional teaching certificate in Elementary Education.
Meet the qualifications for "Highly Qualified" status as defined by federal and state regulations.
Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective instruction in reading and mathematics.
Ability to differentiate instruction based on diverse student needs and abilities.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Employment Type: Temporary / Hourly
Compensation: $40.00 per hour
Schedule: As assigned; based on student need and school schedules
