STEM High School Teacher
This is a professional position to meet the instructional goals of the school and school system by delivering instructional programs effectively to ensure student achievement.
Ability to professionally relate to and collaborate with co-workers, students and community members
Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality
Ability to use technology effectively to complete tasks
Ability to report to work daily and on time
Possess knowledge of the programs, policies, and procedures of the St. Mary's County Public School System
Ability to organize, supervise, coordinate and establish priorities of tasks to be completed
Ability to work independently in the absence of detailed instructions and to follow complex oral and/or written instructions
Ability to communicate orally or in writing, courteously and tactfully, with staff, students, parents, and the community in a timely manner
Possess excellent time management skills and ability to take initiative and make decisions within assigned responsibility in a challenging, fast-paced professional environment and be flexible in work responsibilities and hours
Demonstrate strong ability to assess, plan, and implement highly effective instruction in science and mathematics.
Demonstrate the ability to differentiate instruction based on student abilities and interests.
Organizes, plans, and provides enriched instruction to students in writing, science, and mathematics
Completes individual and group assessments to identify students' areas of strength and needs
Collaborates with other STEM teachers, STEM Coordinator, and grade level Professional Learning Communities within the assigned school
Collaborates with community partners and field experiences outside the assigned school day
Provides ongoing assessments to make instructional decisions that meet the needs of students in such a specialized program
Integrates and enriches the process of writing for highly able students
Implements technology and engineering projects to synthesize concepts learned
Differentiates instruction to meet a variety of learning abilities and styles
Bachelor's Degree
Eligibility for professional certification/licensure of the appropriate grade and or content
Recent teaching experience in engineering and or physics
Full-time ten-month position
The salary for this EXEMPT position will be based on EASMC Teacher Career Ladder for ten-month employees
