Qualifications & Desired

Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for certification)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school environment
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaborative skills
  • Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress
  • Passion for facilitating accessible learning and advocacy for student needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative instructional support to students grades PreK–12 with hearing differences
  • Design and adapt lesson plans to accommodate various learning styles and communication preferences
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place
  • Conduct assessments and participate in IEP meetings, contributing insights for student success
  • Provide training and resources to staff on deaf education strategies
  • Foster a supportive classroom environment that cultivates self-advocacy and independence among students
