Functioning with a high level of independence and reporting to a Public Health Manager, the Public Health Assistant provides independent administrative support for the Manager and 20+ professional program staff. Classifications within the program range from Manager, Health Promotion Facilitators, Social Workers, Low German speaking Mennonite community representatives to Oral Health Registered Dental Hygienists and Assistants. Develops, updates and distributes health promotion information and correspondence.
Participates in the development and evaluation of health promotion initiatives and services. Coordinates meetings and events including creating agendas, recording minutes, booking virtual meetings on Zoom and Teams. Supports delivery of clinical services for Oral Health and Community Health Rep programs, including scheduling, documentation and follow-up within the Connect Care environment. Maintains departmental resources and equipment, including fleet vehicles and oral health equipment and supplies.
Provides administrative support to staff in areas such as payroll, expense claims, etc. as required.
As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Graduate of an approved program in Office Technology, Secretarial Science or related field.
- Excellent computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office suite and desktop publishing software.
- 2-3 years of experience working as an administrative assistant.
- 2-3 years of experience working with a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Experience working in a public health or health care setting.
- Connect Care training and experience an asset.
- e‑People training an asset.
