The Nugget is hiring an Online Editor to help publish and manage content on our website. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes, has strong attention to detail, and understands how people actually read things online.

The Online Editor’s primary responsibility is uploading articles to our Word Press website and ensuring they are clean, readable, and presented in a way that works for a digital audience. You don’t need to be a Word Press expert — we’ll teach you our systems, SEO basics, and technical workflows — but you do need to be comfortable working independently and making smart editorial decisions for the web.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief, responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Upload and format articles on our Word Press website
  • Ensure articles are clean, consistent, and easy to read online (headings, spacing, links, images, embeds, etc.)
  • Apply basic editorial judgment to web presentation (what works on a website vs. in print)
  • Add featured images, captions, tags, and categories
  • Collaborate with editors to clarify formatting or presentation when needed
  • Flag issues, inconsistencies, or missing elements before publication
  • Meet publishing deadlines and manage your workload independently
Who we're looking for
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative without constant supervision
  • A good instinct for what “looks right” and reads well on a website
  • Comfort working with written content and following editorial standards
  • Reliability and consistency — this role is part of keeping our site running smoothly
Why join the Nugget?
  • Amazing perks, including access to the Nugget office
  • Comprehensive and ongoing training
  • Be part of a team dedicated to sharing information and keeping students informed
