- Lead and oversee all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) department operations.
- Plan and manage EHS programs, training, and initiatives in alignment with approved budgets.
- Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and compliance tracking systems.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and regulatory authorities, including the
- Electrical Safety Authority, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Colleges and Universities, Ontario College of Trades, and the City of Toronto.
- Lead incident investigations, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Organize and facilitate internal safety meetings and coordinate external training programs.
- Support apprenticeship training and development in accordance with provincial standards.
- Conduct site inspections and field audits during all project phases to assess risk and reinforce safe work practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including QA/QC processes and documentation management.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate EHS staff, including approval of time, attendance, and leave requests.
- University degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in a senior Health & Safety leadership role within the electrical distribution or utility construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario legislation and industry standards, including the Ontario
- Occupational Health and Safety Act, Electrical Utility Safety Association requirements, and the Environmental Protection Act.
- Experience working in ISO and COR-certified environments.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence (or higher) with a clean driving abstract.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying and adverse weather conditions.
