In keeping with the Covenant Health’s Mission and Values and as an integral member of the Environmental Services team, the Supervisor, Environmental Services is responsible for organizing and supervising the activities which support the provision of quality Environmental Services to patients/residents/customers. (Environmental Services includes Housekeeping, Waste Management and Laundry, and may also include Portering, Materials Management, Mailroom, Audio Visual Services and Telecommunications).

The Supervisor recruits, orientates, coordinates the training, supervises, evaluates and disciplines area employees. The supervisor is responsible for monitoring operational targets and adjusting in daily work to achieve those targets, ensuring safe work practices, and ensuring the safe functioning of area equipment. The supervisor leads and/or participates in departmental meetings and programs, and performs other duties as required. Tasks are completed using electronic programs whenever available.

All tasks are to be completed with minimal supervision and following all applicable policies and standard operating procedures.

Completion of a two-year management training program.

• Minimum of 2 years' recent experience in supervisory capacity.
• Minimum 3 years' experience of related health care experience.
• Experience in employee scheduling.
• Experience in conducting customer satisfaction surveys/quality audits.
• Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and quality assurance.
• Proficiency in office procedures and computer applications in a Windows environment including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Email, Internet and staff scheduling programs.

• Knowledge of interpreting collective agreements, and ability in coaching, teaching, and facilitating.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Self-motivated and self-directed, with the ability to contribute and function as a team.
• Supports a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
• Displays a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
