United for Literacy is a Canadian national, non‑profit literacy organization committed to literacy as a human right.
Volunteer ResponsibilitiesPlay literacy‑themed games, read stories aloud, and provide crafts and play time to children and youth at schools and community spaces.
Age RequirementsMust be 14 years or above.
Qualifications- Open to joining the program at various times and locations throughout the summer (weekly or periodic drop‑ins)
- Confident around children of all ages
- Comfortable assisting with crafts, board games, and outdoor activities
- Able to assist in heat (indoor spaces or shade is not always available)
- Enthusiastic, flexible, and creative
This is an opportunity for people looking for flexible hours. Activities are short, 2–3 hour time frames for volunteers who can join weekly or attend a couple of events over the summer.
