We’re actively searching for a Geology Summer Student to join our Exploration Geological Team this Summer. This student will assist the team by completing a variety of field and technical tasks to ensure the successful execution of exploration projects. This position requires outdoor work on a regular basis in a variety of weather conditions and the student must carry out regular hazard reviews and conduct work in accord with our safety practices.

The student will learn important mineral exploration techniques in an Archean geological environment within the Abitibi Sub‑province and will benefit from a team‑work environment.

• Provide geological field support to the exploration geology team and exploration programs in the field, in the core shack or other locations, including geological mapping, prospecting, and geochemical sampling.
• Be prepared for traversing at the start of each day and assist the supervising Geologist in field preparations and planning of the day.
• Ensure FLRA and JHA are completed as well as vehicle circle checks.
• Assist in field sampling of outcrops including chip‑channel sampling with rock hammers and portable rock saws, and complete geological descriptions of samples when needed.
• Review rock saws and related equipment to ensure it is in good working order the day before the planned channel sampling, report any equipment issues to the supervising Geologist.
• Ensure all the correct PPE are available and are being used, take precautions to work safely and protect the environment, and make sure spill kits are available for use.
• Assist in aspects of the drill program when requested including drill core geotechnical measurements, S.G. measurements, and moving of drill core.
• Participate in core shack technician activities to assist geologist and technician.
• Participate in field activities related to drilling to assist the geologists including drill hole spotting, drill site inspections, drill trail inspections, and other related tasks.
• May be asked to participate in other projects of the company.

What You Need to Succeed

• Registration in a geology / geological engineering program at University or College.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team.
• Good health and ability to complete the required physical tasks in an outdoor environment.
• A sense of urgency and focus.
• Computer skills (Microsoft Office, GIS: ArcGIS) will be beneficial to the job.

Previous summer student experience in mineral exploration or previous geological work as a summer student will be beneficial.

Field‑based work at our Côté Exploration camp on a rotational basis. Traveling to the field within the Côté property could involve driving up to one hour from the central camp to the field area(s).

$19.88 - $29.45 per hour
