Job Description
SUMMARY
Conducts college courses for undergraduate students by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned and/or included in the Faculty Handbook.
* Teaches mathematics within the prescribed curriculum, primarily developmental mathematics, College Algebra, Business Algebra, Statistics, and Contemporary Mathematics.
* Prepares and delivers lectures to students and conducts classroom activities in various formats: traditional classroom, online (Blackboard), and interactive television (ITV).
* Compiles and administers problems for student practice outside of class.
* Stimulates class discussions.
* Compiles, administers, and grades assessments in a timely manner.
* Performs related duties, such as advising students on academic and vocational curricula, and serving as an adviser to student organizations.
* Serves on faculty committees.
* Teaches classes in the evening and on multiple campuses.
* Respectfully and professionally interact with students and co-workers.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English.
* Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English.
* Ability to clearly communicate in English with students and co-workers professionally and respectfully.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
* Ability to work in a highly technical environment.
* Computer competency is essential.
* Proficient in using Word, Excel, and Blackboard.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
* Skill and desire to work with students of low math performing abilities and help them improve their math skills.
* Skill and desire to work with students in advanced topics.
* Flexibility in the teaching schedule is essential.
REASONING ABILITY
* Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking principles to various intellectual and practical problems.
* Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs) in its most difficult phases.
* Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Faculty members who teach mathematics must hold a master's degree and have at least 18 graduate hours in mathematics or statistics. Candidates with 18 or more graduate credit hours in statistics are highly encouraged to apply and will be given a competitive advantage in the initial screening process.
