Summary

An Associate Degree Nurse Educator bridges learning between theoretical medical knowledge and entry-level clinical nursing practice. The role mentors and guides students for the NCLEX-RN exam while teaching strong clinical practice. The position is located on the Levelland Campus, with clinicals completed in Lubbock.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver lectures on core nursing topics such as medical‑surgical nursing, pharmacology, pathophysiology, mental health, professionalism, and leadership.
  • Ensure all coursework meets the standards of regulatory bodies such as the Texas Board of Nursing and ACEN.
  • Provide formative and summative feedback, analyze exams, and grade assignments in a timely manner.
  • Serve on nursing and college committees.
  • Advise current and future students.
  • Assess student competency to confirm safe completion of nursing clinical tasks within the scope of student practice.
  • Supervise groups of students in healthcare facilities, ensuring application of classroom theory to real patients via evidence‑based practice and acting as liaison between students and clinical partners.
  • Educate students in simulation labs, facilitating high‑stakes scenarios (e.g., cardiac arrest response) in a controlled environment.
  • Develop valid testing instruments and identify students requiring additional support to meet competency standards.
Key Skills
  • Current clinical expertise as a Registered Nurse.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft products, and willingness to learn learning management systems and testing platforms.
  • Adaptability to pivot teaching styles for diverse learners, including non‑traditional students.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises students in the clinical affiliates.

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) required; teaching experience preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.
  • Current RN license to practice nursing in the State of Texas.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and present information to various audiences.
  • Mathematical reasoning proficiency (application of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions).
  • Problem‑solving abilities and adaptability to varied instructional contexts.
Physical Demands

Regular use of hands, need to reach, talk, hear, and see. Frequent standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, and carrying weights up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

Work Environment

Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and potentially infectious pathogens in clinical settings; occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock, and radiation. Noise level is usually moderate.
