This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and weekends as required. The role reports directly to the Vice President of Quality or a designee.

Primary

Job Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety requirements.
  • Generate Quality Notifications in the PLP Intranet.
  • Conduct product inspection and testing to ensure compliance with applicable standards. Collaborate with production personnel to continually improve products and services provided to customers.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the lab and lab areas.
  • Conduct inspections and tests as prescribed in the PLP Quality Manual:
    • Perform Density, Melt Index/HLMI, and Ash tests on all incoming products.
    • Conduct in‑process inspections for pipe extrusion at least twice per shift.
    • Verify the accuracy of silo pack logs.
    • Verify pipe dimensions on samples submitted for final inspection.
    • Perform Quick Burst and Ring Tensile tests within the capabilities of lab equipment.
    • Inspect finished product and mark appropriately for acceptance status.

  • Experience with MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, customer service and productivity.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong math skills.
Preferred Experience
  • 1–2 years’ experience.
  • Previous customer service and/or warehouse experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to verbally communicate with other employees.
  • Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time in temperature extremes.
  • Ability to use hands, arms and legs to physically handle and transport finished goods.
  • Position requires full range of body motion including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting and ability to mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicles.
  • Ability to speak, read and write fluently in the English language.
  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions (especially heat).
  • Must be able to work weekends.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
  • Must be punctual to work.
