Base Pay
This role has a minimum base pay of $15.50 per hour, with higher starting pay available based on experience.
PurposeFloor & Decor Designers provide a seamless start‑to‑finish consultative design service that builds lasting relationships and brand loyalty with the customers we serve. Designers meet with customers, listen to their project needs, educate them on all that is required for their project, and build a creative design concept that incorporates the customer’s personal style, lifestyle, and budget.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements- Minimum of one (1) year of interior design experience or prior retail/sales experience
- Degree in Design is a plus
- Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus
- Proficiency in basic mathematical skills
- Self‑motivated and able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite
- Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position
- Greet store customers in a helpful manner and support walk‑in design needs
- Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers, while developing clientele through networking and referrals, as well as leads generated within the store
- Provide tile, wood, stone, and accessories advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for both residential and commercial projects
- Design and sell complete, functional and aesthetically appealing solutions
- Manage multiple simultaneous customer projects through all phases with a high level of accuracy, timeliness, and follow‑up. Communicate consistently and concisely with customers and others; proficient use of company communication tools and email is required
- Collaborate, partner, and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation, and achieve sales and other goals
- Enthusiastically support all company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees
- Engage in current and emerging design trends in your market
- Responsible for understanding and utilizing design applications (e.g., Salesforce, proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, MyProject)
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Limited travel may be required by car
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to noisy.
Medium Work – Ability to exert 20‑50 pounds of force occasionally, 10‑25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. The employee is often required to use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
