We are currently seeking compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented individuals to join our shelter team as a Part-Time Weekend Resident Life Associate (RLA).
Weekend Schedule
Part-Time Weekend Position - 16 Hours Per Week
We are hiring multiple staff members for the following shifts:
- Friday Overnight: 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM
- Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM, 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM, or 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM

Position Summary
The Resident Life Associate (RLA) is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and supportive environment for approximately 80 shelter residents, including adults and children. RLAs support facility operations during their assigned shift, support residents with daily needs, enforce shelter policies, and ensure the shelter remains clean, organized, and welcoming.
This position requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, reliability, and the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced, trauma-informed environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily shelter operations during assigned shift.
- Ensure the safety and security of residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
- Conduct routine interior and exterior facility rounds and document findings.
- Monitor surveillance systems and control facility access.
- Enforce shelter policies and address resident concerns professionally and respectfully.
- Maintain accurate records, communication logs, census counts, and admissions documentation.
- Answer shelter phones and provide information, referrals, and crisis support as appropriate.
- Coordinate resident transportation requests and other daily needs.
- Assist residents with access to meals, hygiene supplies, and supportive services.
- Supervise and assist residents with cleaning and upkeep of common areas.
- Support meal service, kitchen cleanup, and organization of donation areas.
- Report maintenance, safety, and security concerns promptly.
- Complete assigned shift tasks and ensure smooth transition to incoming staff.
- Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold residents' rights at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in human services, behavioral health, customer service, hospitality, security, healthcare, or related fields.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations.
