Overview
Cape Henlopen's beaches attract thousands of visitors who enjoy everything from ocean swimming, boating, fishing, and kayaking to clamming, paddle-boarding and wind-surfing. Cape Henlopen offers more than just the ocean and bays. A wide selection of activities and programs for children and adults are led by Seaside Nature Center staff each week.
Fort Miles is a special place for history enthusiasts, veterans, families, or anyone interested in learning about Delaware stories, Delaware heroes and Delaware’s role in WWII. Fort Miles Museum at Cape Henlopen State Park provides information about Delaware history.
Summary StatementA variety of seasonal Park Interpreter positions may be available at Cape Henlopen State Park:
- Park Interpreter: $16.75 - Responsible for developing and conducting interpretive programs that will increase the students and visitor's awareness of their surrounding environment and foster the appreciation, enjoyment, and utilization of Delaware State Parks cultural and natural resources. In addition, this post involves the care and maintenance of the Nature Centers live animal exhibits.
- Historical Park Interpreter: $16.75 - Duties will include assisting with the museum's collection and working with historic weapons at Fort Miles.
- Day Camp Co-Director- $19.00 - responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading activities for summer day camps. Duties include creating and maintaining a fun, positive and safe camp environment for campers and staff.
- Assistant Day Camp Director: $17.00 - responsible for leading daily activities for summer day camps. Duties include creating and maintaining a fun, positive and safe camp environment for campers and staff.
Work is performed indoors and outdoors, weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled to meet facility needs.

- May deliver interpretive programs to participants of all ages in a variety of contexts.
- May Interpret the history of Fort Miles to visitors on a daily basis.
- May become black powder certified and fire a World War II-era artillery piece.
- Develop and maintain exhibits, park bulletin boards and educational material.
- Provides general customer service and park information to visitors.
- May lead educational and recreational hikes for park visitors.
- May include live animal care and handling.
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Other duties as assigned.
