High School Spanish Immersion Teacher

The High School Spanish Teacher plays a critical role in developing students' proficiency in the Spanish language and deepening their understanding of other cultures. This individual is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction that promotes reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in alignment with World Language standards. The teacher will foster global awareness, cultural appreciation, and effective communication skills necessary for college, career, and civic readiness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Select instructional goals aligned with district curricula.
• Plan and deliver lessons that integrate interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational communication modes.
• Demonstrate strong content knowledge in Spanish language acquisition and Hispanic cultures.
• Create and/or select formative and summative assessments aligned with instructional goals.
• Maintain high behavioral expectations and respond to student conduct in effective, respectful ways.
• Foster a classroom atmosphere that values diversity, risk-taking in language learning, and mutual respect.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Provide timely, descriptive feedback; encourage self-assessment; and use data to guide instructional adjustments.
• Maintain effective communication with families regarding student progress and program expectations.
• Keep accurate records of student performance, IEP data, attendance, and other required documentation in compliance with district policies.
• Participate in professional development aligned with district goals and personal professional growth.
• Engage in reflective practice to continuously improve instructional effectiveness.
