Retail Associate/ Customer Service, Cashier

- Keep Deli service areas well stocked and appealing at all times to meet customer demands.
- Smile and greet customers, answer customer questions, and help resolve customer concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner.
- Ensure freshness and condition of merchandise in display cases along with proper prices and correct signage.
- Properly rotate product.
- Handle spoiled or damaged products or products close to expiration according to company procedures and standards.
- Operate slicing equipment to provide meats and cheeses based on customer preferences.
- Package items and apply sticker showing price, weight, and date.
- Prepare ready‑to‑eat foods to individual order of customers.
- Prepare platters of sliced meats, cheeses, and vegetable trays.
- Ensure safe use of knives/kitchen utensils.
- Adhere to company recipes and safety policies when preparing food such as chicken, pizza, sandwiches, salads, and other various hot or cold food items.
- Operate and be responsible for cash register operations.
- Follow policies and procedures to ensure proper money handling to avoid cash overages or shortages.
- Adhere to company and state laws related to tobacco and alcohol sales.
- Assume responsibility for general sanitation in the department. Follow cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements.
- Dispose of trash properly.
- Assist in inventory control through time and temperature practices.
- Minimize losses by returning products to refrigeration, properly handling products, keeping necessary logs, and following company recipes.
- May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained. (Training provided.)
- May assist with receiving, unloading, checking‑in, breaking‑down, and storing deliveries through operation of a power jack or hand jack (if properly trained – training provided).
- Ensure smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co‑workers and superiors.
- Continuously improve job performance.
- Utilize all company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to cut‑resistant gloves, safety cutters, company‑sponsored footwear, etc.
- May also be called upon to assist in other departments.
This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS- Education:
Completed or working towards a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). No prior experience required. - Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without an accommodation.
Hourly rate starts at $16.00 and goes up to $22.00.
