ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promote excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer-focused behavior with associates.
  • Smile and greet customers, answer questions, and resolve concerns promptly in a polite and professional manner.
  • Focus on continuous improvement in all areas of the department and make changes to ensure progress.
  • Take customer orders over the phone or in person at the store with a pleasant and positive attitude.
  • Determine what the customer is looking for in terms of size and appearance.
  • Create finished products in a timely fashion and keep a fresh, clean, and appealing department.
  • Follow code dating rules; ensure product is reworked or marked down before it turns to shrink.
  • Follow all proper sanitization procedures; store product at the appropriate temperature.
  • Build displays that are clean, simple, and merchandised to company standards.
  • Move product as needed to create impulse sales.
  • Understand local market conditions to target promotion programs.
  • Monitor competitor activity concerning merchandising, pricing, quality, and comparison signage.
  • Develop and implement localized merchandising plans; set up and create displays for new or seasonal items to drive sales.
  • Maintain communication with other departments and store manager to devise cross-merchandising plans and meet financial objectives.
  • Manage department inventory by tracking weekly sales and placing orders based on sales to ensure quality products while meeting profit goals.
  • Respond to load levels daily and rework product that is not moving.
  • Apply procedures for arrangements and upgrades.
  • Verify all department deliveries and invoices to ensure accurate billing.
  • Help unload merchandise and transport to the sales floor or storage area.
  • Enforce department practices regarding receiving, dating, and restocking to ensure product rotation.
  • Monitor product quality and freshness.
  • Break down deliveries.
  • Create designs in front of the customer’s eye.
  • Make customized pieces for events or decoration.
  • Ensure department changes with each season following corporate guidelines.
  • Decorate using key elements that are also for sale in the department.
  • Train other floral associates in the district on new programs or retrain them on existing programs using floral daily best practices.
  • Cooperate with supervisor and co-workers to continuously improve job performance.
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Maintain backroom and receiving area security and organization by promoting 5S procedures.
  • Practice general sanitation in the department and follow cleaning schedules and department guidelines to maintain clean work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc., and meet health and OSHA requirements.
  • Dispose of trash properly.
  • Schedule all floral associates, oversee and participate in training, reward and recognize performance, and delegate work assignments to effectively utilize talents and abilities while maximizing profits for the department.
  • Participate in associate annual performance reviews and new hire interviews.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises all associates within the department. The specific number depends upon store volume.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, the Associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without an accommodation.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in business or food service-related field desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience in a retail, restaurant, or supermarket environment.
