The Medical Technologist performs complex laboratory testing and analysis to support accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires expertise in blood bank procedures, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis, as well as proficiency with advanced laboratory instrumentation. The Medical Technologist ensures compliance with hospital standards, safety protocols, and quality control measures while delivering reliable results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform blood bank testing using MTS gel and tube methods.
  • Conduct hematology procedures using Beckman Coulter analyzers (520 and 690).
  • Perform manual differential, body fluid cell counts, and differential procedures.
  • Operate Werfen Top coagulation instrumentation and perform urine microscopic procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of laboratory results and quality control data.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to support patient care.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Work scheduled shifts (7 days on, 7 days off; 10-hour shifts).
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent experience as a Medical Technologist.
  • Strong knowledge of blood bank, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis procedures.
  • Proficiency with Beckman Coulter hematology analyzers, Werfen Top coagulation instrumentation, and related laboratory equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a hospital or acute care laboratory setting.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification as a Medical Technologist – required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association – required.
