SEL is seeking a Plastics Engineering Technician to join our Plastics Engineering team in Lewiston, Idaho. This hands‑on role delivers custom injection‑molded production to all SEL production sites. You will collaborate closely with production to facilitate timely change‑over and start‑up of injection‑molding machines and support equipment, lead troubleshooting to resolve quality events and identify root causes, perform new tooling evaluations, develop new processes including automation on machines, and complete first‑article inspections.
You will develop robotic programming skills, create automated inspection processes, troubleshoot automated assembly cells and secondary operation automation, and conduct process improvements, data collection, documentation, while following World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles. - Provide immediate technical support to manufacturing and clarify production process specification requirements to ensure accurate and efficient production.
- Assist in measuring and improving yield, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Document, modify, and maintain manufacturing‑related procedures.
- Manage the procurement of assembly process tools.
- Train operators and support staff as needed.
- Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

- Two‑year technical degree or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with the manufacturing equipment relevant to the role.
- Basic computer skills including familiarity with Windows‑based programs such as Microsoft productivity tools (Excel, Word, SQL).
- Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
- Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Background check results satisfactory to SEL.
- Negative drug test result(s).
- Experience troubleshooting process and machinery problems.
- Experience writing and/or conducting Design of Experiments.
- Experience programming and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment and machinery.
- Experience preparing materials cross‑sections for microscopic analysis.
- Working knowledge of basic analog and digital electronics.
- Lift and maneuver 40 pounds.
- Pull weight from high/low shelves.
- Reach, bend, grip, twist.
- Sit and/or stand at least 8 hours.
- Fine finger dexterity.

$32.88–$48.60 per hour. Compensation ranges are based on the responsibilities of the role and may vary by level.
