Freedom is looking for a hands‑on HR Manager with a strong Environmental Health & Safety focus to support our manufacturing operations in Lewiston, .
About the RoleThis is a boots‑on‑the‑ground role — you'll spend most of your time on the production floor, ensuring safety programs are actively followed, compliance requirements are met, and employees have the support they need to work safely every day.
Responsibilities- Environmental Health & Safety (Primary Focus)
- Conduct routine floor inspections, safety walks, and hazard assessments across production areas
- Investigate incidents, near‑misses, and unsafe conditions; document findings and drive corrective actions to completion
- Deliver hands‑on safety training for new hires and refresher training for the existing workforce
- Maintain OSHA 300 logs, injury/illness records, and all required regulatory documentation
- Coordinate PPE programs — tracking inventory, ensuring proper fit and use, and replacing equipment as needed
- Support emergency response preparedness including drills, evacuation procedures, and first aid readiness
- Serve as the primary point of contact for OSHA or agency interactions; prepare documentation for inspections
- Partner with supervisors and frontline leads to reinforce safe behaviors and address unsafe practices in real time
- Human Resources (Supporting Function)
- Assist with onboarding and new hire orientation, with an emphasis on safety culture from day one
- Support employee relations matters and elevate complex issues to senior HR leadership
- Maintain accurate employee records and assist with HR compliance documentation
- Help coordinate recruiting logistics for production and technical roles as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, HR, or a related field — or equivalent work experience
- 3–5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or defense environment
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience with OSHA 1910 general industry standards
- Comfortable working on a production floor and engaging directly with frontline employees and supervisors
- Strong attention to detail in documentation and record‑keeping
- CSP, ASP, OSHA 30 (General Industry), or similar certification a plus
