Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on substation equipment utilized in power transmission, distribution, and generation. Assemble, troubleshoot, repair, replace and clean all components in an electrical substation while maintaining compliance with national, state, and local electrical codes along with all Premier Power policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Assist in the execution of mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment utilized in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to install electrical apparatus according to manufacturer’s specifications.
- Perform a majority of substation construction tasks:
Power cable installation, circuit breaker installation, protective relay panel installation, substation installation, transformer assembly and related tasks. - Operate bucket trucks, line trucks, excavators, trenchers, cranes, and hydraulic crimpers.
- Participate in preventative maintenance outages at clients’ facilities.
- Attend weekly safety meetings and trainings.
- Provide technical advice outside of normal workday hours.
- Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.
- Familiar with NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations.
- Use hand tools and power tools.
- Operate power distribution components and diagnostic equipment.
- Demonstrate high professionalism and courtesy when interacting with team members, customers, and vendors.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems as they arise.
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Work independently while utilizing excellent judgement.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Maintain tools, test equipment, and vehicles in clean and organized condition.
- Willing to relocate within 60 miles of the hiring regional office.
- Work overtime including nights, weekends, and holidays; travel on overnight multi‑day projects if required.
Work Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED. Military experience preferred.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical substation construction.
- Substation or Lineman Apprenticeship program completion is a plus.
- Pass pre‑employment background check, physical abilities test, and drug screen.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred for combined vehicle up to 26k lbs.
- Ability to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.
- Obtain TWIC, OSHA 10, NFPA 70‑E, CPR training.
