Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Learn to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Disassemble and rebuild defective equipment.
  • Replace defective mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, and related components.
  • Learn to troubleshoot equipment issues and make repairs to maintain equipment uptime.
  • Learn to make modifications that improve equipment efficiency, reliability, safety, quality, and production performance.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, changes, and process improvements.
  • Operate shop equipment, including milling machines and lathes.
  • Make sound decisions concerning assigned maintenance operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Follow and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to company requirements and manufacturer instructions.
  • Assist with identifying when outside repairs or replacement parts are needed.
  • Work in a training environment with direct supervision as required
  • Work as a team member with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and production employees.
  • Maintain a good work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Support organizational goals by accepting ownership of assigned tasks and learning new responsibilities.
  • Update job knowledge through training, technical publications, and educational opportunities.
  • Use computers and maintenance-related software as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintaining Equipment
  • Observe and listen to operating machinery to help diagnose malfunctions.
  • Determine the need for adjustments, repairs, or replacement parts.
  • Assist with maintaining industrial machines using knowledge of mechanics, shop math, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and equipment drawings.
  • Troubleshoot, remove, disassemble, rebuild, reinstall, and repair equipment systems, including:
    • Pneumatics
    • Pump systems
    • Hydraulics
    • Electrical systems
    • Mechanical drive systems
    • Plumbing systems
    • Production machinery components
  • Identify and order parts required for equipment repairs and rebuilds.
  • Make modifications to improve equipment efficiency, reliability, safety, quality, and production output.
  • Oversee or assist with modifications performed by internal and external resources.
  • Support process changes, new equipment models, expansion projects, and production improvements.
  • Optimize, upgrade, or change equipment based on safety, quality, and production needs.
  • Perform light plumbing-related maintenance as needed, including basic repair or replacement of fittings, valves, hoses, piping, drains, air lines, water lines, and related components.
  • Assist in identifying, correcting, and preventing recurring equipment problems.
  • Work independently with limited or no supervision.
  • Work as a team member with supervisors, maintenance employees, production employees, and outside contractors.
  • Maintain a good work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Support organizational goals by taking ownership of new and different requests.
  • Look for opportunities to improve equipment, processes, and maintenance practices.

Specifications / Qualifications
  • Maintenance Millwright I: 1-2 years of related maintenance, millwright, mechanical, or industrial equipment experience preferred.
  • Maintenance Millwright II: 3-4 years of related maintenance, millwright, troubleshooting, equipment repair, or industrial equipment experience preferred.
Education

High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certificate or related technical training preferred. Equivalent job experience may be considered in place of formal technical education.

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to work safely around moving equipment, electrical systems, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, plumbing systems, and shop tools.
