Position: Staff Software Development Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

CVS Health Digital is looking for a Staff Software Development Engineer who will serve as both a Technical Lead and Individual Contributor. The role focuses on building next‑generation platforms and delivering use cases into products that help people live healthier lives. Responsibilities include creating Proof of Concepts, collaborating with engineering teams, partnering with business and IT leaders, providing expert level support, and identifying system gaps to enhance performance.

THE ROLE
  • Leverage expertise to design and implement efficient and scalable solutions that meet business requirements and quality standards
  • Contribute to solution design and architecture discussions, collaborating with architects and senior engineers
  • Provide input on technical feasibility, performance optimization, and scalability considerations to ensure that the overall solution meets the desired objectives
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and quality guidelines
  • Communicate and coordinate with team members to ensure alignment, provide technical insights, and contribute to decision‑making processes
  • Contribute to the adoption of best practices, new technologies, and tools to enhance productivity, efficiency, and code quality
  • Participate in knowledge sharing activities, such as code reviews, tech talks, and workshops, to foster a culture of learning and collaboration within the team
  • Work with other developers and team members to implement complex features, enhance existing functionality, and ensure the delivery of high‑quality code
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, helping them improve their technical skills and grow professionally
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of experience working with enterprise solution delivery in a large‑scale distributed software design environment
  • 5+ years of Java development experience
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience with enterprise cloud initiatives and solutions with cloud computing technologies
  • 5+ years of designing and developing modern microservices and cost‑effective APIs
  • 3+ years of experience working on CI/CD Pipeline automation
  • 3+ years of experience working in an Agile‑based development environment
  • 2+ years of Agentic AI / Generative AI experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Health and wellness domain experience
  • Hands‑on experience working as full‑stack developer when needed (AngularJS, JavaScript, Oracle and other modern databases like No

    SQL)
  • Strong understanding of Generative AI concepts and techniques, including but not limited to Natural Language Processing (NLP), text generation and summarization, conversational AI and chatbots
  • Hands‑on experience developing user‑facing features and/or applications
  • Ability to create and execute on roadmaps that consider both progress and innovation as well as the need to scale reliably
  • Ability to learn/work with emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Cloud/IT technology space
  • Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries, build relationships, and achieve broader organizational goals
EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

PAY RANGE

Typical pay range: $ – $. The actual base salary offer will depend on experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors. The position is eligible for CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay. It also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
