Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, controlling and supervising all aspects of the swim lesson program for the general public.

Under the authority of the Recreation Coordinator, the specific functions include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for knowing the Manger's responsibilities and being on duty when the Pool Manager is away from the facilities.
  • Responsible for all publicity for swim lessons- radio, newspaper and television through the central office.
  • Responsible for preparing registration money for deposit.
  • Responsible for seeing that students are in the proper swim classes.
  • Responsible for seeing that swim classes start on time, run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Responsible for holding instructional workshops and meetings.
  • Responsible for obtaining all instructional supplies:
    Red Cross cards, skill sheets, tootsie pops, etc.
  • Teach swim classes.
  • Split manager's maintenance tasks with the Pool Manager.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • 18 years of age or older.
    • Certificate of lifeguard training.
    • Certificate of Water Safety Instructor
    • First Aid and CPR certification.
    • AED certification preferred.
    • Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Proficient in interacting with people of various ages from diverse backgrounds.
    • Available to work shifts.
    • Physically fit, strong, agile and dexterous.
    Knowledge of:
    • Operation and proper maintenance of pool equipment, materials, procedures and machinery used within the pool facility.
    • Oral and written communication skills.
    • Basic health and safety practices.
    • Proper lifting techniques.
    • Ability to learn proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies.
    Ability to:
    • Perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair in trade areas.
    • Work independently with little direction or as a member of a crew.
    • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
    • Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
    Working Conditions:
    • Subject to outdoor environments: seasonal heat, temperature changes and extreme weather conditions.
    • Physical demands include lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. Standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods of time.
