Co-op Senior Administrator | Maine Bottle Bill Program

This is not a “maintain what already exists” opportunity.

We are searching for a practical, entrepreneurial operations leader to help launch and administer a newly formed statewide cooperative supporting Maine’s Returnable Beverage Container Program.

The right person will bring the ability to create structure, coordinate multiple stakeholders, manage complex operational and financial details, and move a highly visible program from planning into successful execution.

What you will help lead:

• Launch planning, timelines, budgets, and operating procedures
• Coordination across producers, commingling groups, redemption centers, vendors, regulators, and industry partners
• Financial administration, cost allocations, reporting, auditing, and internal controls
• Data collection, registration, compliance, and statewide program reporting
• Vendor, contractor, Board, and stakeholder management

The ideal background may include:

• Recycling or waste management operations
• Bottle Bill or Deposit Return Systems
• Product stewardship or Extended Producer Responsibility
• Business operations, finance, logistics, or regulated program management
• Experience launching or improving complex programs and processes
• Strong stakeholder, vendor, and Board-level communication

Direct Maine Bottle Bill experience is valuable, but it is not the only path into this role. The organization is prepared to provide industry guidance, transition support, and focused training for a capable leader who can quickly learn the technical details.

Maine-based candidates are strongly preferred, although candidates elsewhere in the Northeast may be considered with the ability to travel into Maine as needed.
