Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and patient-centered Ortho Trauma & Total Joint Physician to join our growing orthopedic surgery team. This role combines expertise in complex trauma surgery with proficiency in total joint arthroplasty (hip, knee, and other major joints). You will provide surgical care, consultative services, and multidisciplinary coordination to optimize outcomes for a broad range of orthopedic patients.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat orthopedic trauma injuries, including fractures, dislocations, and musculoskeletal emergencies.
  • Perform total joint replacement surgeries, including primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasties, as well as other joint procedures appropriate to practice scope.
  • Provide pre‑operative evaluation, surgical intervention, and post‑operative follow‑up care.
  • Participate in orthopedic trauma call coverage and collaborate with emergency medicine, ICU, and rehabilitation teams.
  • Work closely with physician assistants, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, radiology, and ancillary services to deliver coordinated, high‑quality care.
  • Educate patients and families on surgical plans, recovery expectations, and long‑term joint health strategies.
  • Maintain detailed, compliant medical records and uphold clinical quality standards and safety protocols.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and ongoing practice development. (Typical responsibilities reflect standard orthopedic trauma and joint replacement duties across similar roles.)
Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree and completion of accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency.
  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Fellowship training or equivalent experience in Orthopedic Trauma Surgery and/or Adult Reconstruction/Total Joint Arthroplasty highly preferred.
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice medicine in the state of Maine.
  • Strong clinical judgment, surgical competence, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team‑based, patient‑focused environment. (Preferred qualifications adapted from comparable orthopedic trauma and joint surgeon roles.)
