Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: CTE Explorations Instructor - LRTC (Leavitt)

Summary: This position has small variations in programming to meet the majority of the school administration's and students' interests.

  • Currently, all have both a carpentry component and a small-engine component. The second half is where it gets interesting. Two are doing culinary, four are doing some pre‑engineering/manufacturing basics, we have one doing electrical, one doing plumbing, and one doing a medical component.
  • All schools run 3 periods a day. If they are in block scheduling, the one school that runs a full schedule also runs six classes a day, but it's much shorter time periods. We run an average of 12 per class, but have some that are upwards of 15.
    • We also run a CTE 2 class for those who really need this connection to school. One of the six sections is set up specifically for those students. Their projects and work are more in‑depth, and they tend to do more work around their school. An example of this is building new picnic tables for an outdoor club that supports UMaine students, and they also redid the teachers' lounge after it was damaged due to a water leak.
  • I am happy to schedule a visit whenever works best for you.
  • All instructors are based out of a high school. UTC employs them. We pay for the renovation of the space, equipment, and supplies, and we provide a substitute if they are out. Supervision is shared between the LRTC Assistant Director and the high school principal. Our new special education coordinator supports instructors and students as they transition from middle school to UTC.
