Position: CTE Career Exploration Teacher - LRTC (Oak Hill)

Summary

This position involves a variety of CTE programming across multiple trade areas. All classes include a carpentry and small‑engine component. Additional focus areas are culinary (2 sections), pre‑engineering/manufacturing basics (4 sections), electrical (1 section), plumbing (1 section), and medical (1 section). Schools operate three daily periods; some use block scheduling resulting in six shorter periods. A CTE 2 class is available for students requiring further depth, focusing on practical projects such as building picnic tables and renovating a teachers’ lounge.

Salary

$45,518.26 – $85,857.57 (SY26/27)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; provide individualized and small‑group instruction tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Communicate regularly with parents via newsletters, notes, phone calls, and conferences.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to foster an effective learning environment.
  • Identify student needs, develop appropriate referrals, and create strategies for individual education plans in collaboration with district specialists.
  • Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes.
  • Plan and coordinate the work of education technicians and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
  • Create an engaging learning environment with functional displays, interest centers, and student exhibits.
  • Assess and evaluate student academic and social growth; maintain records and provide progress reports as requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise classroom activities, students, and volunteers with assistance, advice, and support from administration.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Associate’s degree or higher; CTE trade background in Carpentry, Welding, or Electrical; valid teaching certificate.

Language

Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business articles, technical procedures, and regulatory documents; write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals; present information effectively and respond to questions from individuals and groups.

Mathematical

Skills:

Work with probability, statistical inference, planar and solid geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical contexts.

Reasoning Ability: Solve practical problems and handle variable situations with limited standardization; interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule instructions.

Other

Skills and Abilities:

Apply current research to instructional programs; plan and implement lessons aligned with school objectives and student needs; establish effective relationships with students, peers, and parents; strong oral and written communication; comply with district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk, sit, talk, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. Responsible for safety and well‑being of others; requires close vision for reading handwritten or typed material.

Work Environment

Moderate to loud indoor and occasionally outdoor environments; noise level moderate to loud.
