- Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Communicate regularly with parents by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Identify student needs and make appropriate referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans working with the assistance of district specialists as appropriate.
- Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
- Plan and coordinate the work of ed. techs. and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student.
- Create an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of student's work.
- Assess and evaluate the accomplishments of students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and provide progress reports as requested.
Supervises classroom and students and volunteers with assistance, advice and support from administration.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSEducation and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree, Valid Teaching Certificate.
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and groups.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OtherSkills and Abilities
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication; ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Frequent standing, talking or hearing, sometimes walking and sitting. Occasional push or lift up to 25 lbs such as boxes of books and AV/VCR carts. Requires safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Requires close vision to read handwritten or typed material and adjust focus. Must meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

Noise level moderate to loud. Duties performed indoors and occasionally outdoors.
