SUMMARY
:
To use instructional practices to meet English Language Learners' proficiency English levels for students at their appropriate grade level.

Salary
: $43,350.73 – $81,769.12 + stipend (SY25/26)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach district-approved curriculum aligned to Maine Learning Results and local learning expectations.
  • Implement the LAU PLAN at assigned school.
  • Maintain records and meet federal, state, and local mandates.
  • Work with district directors, ELL coordinator, school administrators, and school staff to meet appropriate instructional needs.
  • Administer English proficiency assessments, e.g., ACCESS, ACCESS screening.
  • Implement accommodations on the MEA and local designated common assessments.
  • Differentiated curriculum and instructional practices to meet Maine Learning Results standards and local learning expectations.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education, and Title I staffs.
  • Schedule student daily participation in the ELL Program.
  • Serve as a resource to students and parents for educational-related purposes.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise classroom ELL students.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in education.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Teaching Certificate with ELL endorsement #660.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Plan and implement lessons.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met: frequent standing and talking or hearing; occasional walking and sitting; occasionally bending or twisting at the neck; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus.
