- Is responsive to student and teacher needs.
- Provides classroom support and coaching assistance to classroom teachers as they implement instructional strategies aligned with established district standards, frameworks, and assessments.
- Assists in the development of methods that measure effectiveness with raising student literacy skills.
- Helps teachers select appropriate courses of study that lead to professional improvement.
- Participates cooperatively with the Southern Maine Partnership to develop the method by which student performance will be in conformance with district guidelines, standards, and frameworks.
- Participates in meetings with content area faculty to discuss curricular changes, target data, and changes related to restructuring under the Great Maine Schools initiative.
- Provides resources to all teachers to ensure literacy is emphasized across the curriculum.
- Manages all data related to direct service and mainstream ELL students.
- Does intake testing and placement recommendations for all new students.
- Works with staff to develop, support, and monitor graduation plans for ELL students.
- Manages implementation and data analysis for required all mandated testing.
- Works with staff to match extended day and extended year programming to student needs.
Supervises students, teachers, and educational technicians.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBS/BA Degree; exemplary teaching experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSValid Teaching Certificate and endorsements.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to present information effectively, and to respond to questions from individuals and groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
