Job Description
- Provides leadership and resources to the safety initiatives and audits as required, including support and communication of all corporate safety goals.
- Researches and analyzes data such as customer requirements, sales proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
- Designs products or systems such as dampers, expansion joints, and mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems.
- Reviews customer requirements, sales proposal and performs calculations as required to prepare or check existing bills of materials for complex items required by the project.
- Prepares technical packages to include in bid packages for outsourced equipment.
- Performs complex calculations and analysis to assure suitability of products for use.
- Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
- Confers with customers, vendors and project personnel to seek or provide technical advice and resolve problems while working in a professional and ethical manner.
- Oversees and monitors products during production and final testing to ensure compliance with drawings, customer requirements and design specifications.
- Assists with fellow engineering/drafting personnel to ensure product and systems conform to design standards and customer specifications.
- Assists in developing new products, designs and concepts for manufacturing and updating current standard drawing and procedures.
- Assists the applications (sales) engineering department with design and drawing support as needed.
- Understands and practices current ISO 9000 standards applicable to this position.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent. Five to ten years related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to understand and apply nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) related to advanced technical concepts.
- Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Proficient with CAD (Draftsight 2D, Solid Works 3D preferred), word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word/Excel).
- Proficient with FEA software a plus.
- Familiar with ERP software a plus.
- Proficient in the design and analysis of complex thermal, mechanical and structural systems.
- May be required to travel globally for short periods of time.
