Position: CNA - Float Pool, Full Time, Nights

Job Summary

Central Maine Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant for its Float Team. This is a full‑time, 36‑hour position (nights) with benefit eligibility and a robust benefits package. Responsibilities

As a CNA, you will provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a RN or physician.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, personal care, emotional support, and perform more complex clinical skills as directed.
  • Deliver appropriate care, tailored to patient condition, age, and psychosocial needs.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, transfers, and transportation.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks such as bathing, dressing, changing linens, cleaning over‑bed tables, and maintaining room cleanliness.
  • Carry out positioning, lifting, and turning of patients, using special equipment and assisting with bedpan and commode use.
  • Prepare, serve, and remove meals, provide snacks and water, and assist with feeding when needed.
  • Respond to call lights, anticipate needs, and conduct rounds of assigned patients.
  • Transport patients to various departments for tests/procedures.
  • Record vital signs, temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, blood pressure, and intake/output.
  • Report pain complaints, infections, changes in condition, and other concerns to supervising RN.
  • Apply infection control procedures and maintain patient safety.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with RNs and medical staff.
  • Maintain professional relationships within the department and with other departments.
  • Ensure documentation meets current standards and policies.
  • Attend in‑service education programs to learn new treatments, procedures, and developmental skills.
  • Treat patients and families with respect, dignity, and empathy; provide consistent customer service and support.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and effective performance under stress.
  • Operate equipment safely and correctly.
  • Maintain a pleasant, helpful demeanor and professional appearance toward all customers.
  • Initiate assistance for individuals who may not be direct customers, such as helping lost patients.
  • Resolve service difficulties promptly and appropriately.
  • Interact with supervisory personnel professionally and supportively.
  • Commit to reliable attendance and punctuality, scheduling absences as required.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent (preferred).
  • Completion of a CNA course and current state of Maine certification.
  • Listing on the Maine State Board of Nursing CNA Registry.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification (required).
  • Effective communication in English, both verbal and written.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to engage patients and team members using CMH Experience Standards.

  • Ability to direct and triage in a dynamic environment and collaborate with management.
